About My Organization
The Strengthening Health Outcomes through the Private Sector (SHOPS) project is USAID's flagship initiative in private sector health. It works to involve nongovernmental organizations and for-profit entities in addressing the many health needs of people in developing countries. SHOPS focuses on increasing availability, improving quality, and expanding coverage of essential health products and services in family planning and reproductive health, maternal and child health, HIV and AIDS, and other health areas through the private sector. Our CHIP
To increase family planning uptake by 20% among women in the Lagos Mainland through training of health care providers and proper orientation of women on family planning through sensitization
SHOPS fits in because it programs in reproductive health through capacity building and demand generation.
Goal and objectives
Goal: To increase the uptake of family planning services among women starting in the Lagos mainland and later the rest of the project program areas.
Process Objectives:
- To conduct 5 demand creation activities In the Lagos mainland by May 2013.
- To train 100 health care providers on family planning counselling taking care of the woman's contraceptive needs while correcting misconceptions by May 2014.
Outcome Objective:
To increase by 20% the uptake of contraceptive methods among women in Lagos from the current prevalence of 31.7% by July.
