Goal:

  • Reduce outpatient waiting time by 50% in Banso Baptist Hospital by December 2016

Long term objective:

  • Develop and implement an HMIS software in Banso Baptist Hospital OPD by June 2016

Short term objective :

  • Document OPD processes by October 2015
  • Develop modules of the HMIS by February 2016

Measurement

  • Establish baseline patient waiting time at each service point in the OPD
  • Compare baseline waiting time with post automation waiting time

Lessons Learned

  • Determination of workload and efficient line spacing contributes to reduction in patient waiting time
  • Establishing a blue print for services (patient flow chart) positively influences patient waiting time
  • In house softwares can successfully automate service processes
