About the Organization

The Tema Metro Health Directorate is one the health directorates located in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. It serves a total population of 341, 045 inhabitants in the metro. The directorate seeks to promote the health of the populace by managing the health facilities (Private and Public) within three sub-metros Tema East, Tema West and Tema Central.  The health directorate engages in several activities including training, monitoring and evaluation of five (5) public health facilities, 32 CHPS zones, 58 private/industrial health facilities and 53 outreach points. The provides services including Reproductive and Child Health services, Surveillance, clinical services and Programme Based Activities such Expanded Programme on Immunization Services,  to promote infant and child health, maternal health, control and eradicate epidemic diseases such as cholera and other non-communicable diseases.

To provide and prudently increase inclusive and accessible health service with special emphasis on primary health care in accordance with approved national policies.

To provide and increase inclusive and accessible health service with special emphasis on primary health care to people within the Tema Metropolis using approved national policies. 


Problem Area

Increase in malnutrition among children under five years in the Tema East sub-metro. 


Program Goal Statement

To reduce malnutrition levels among children under-five years in the Tema East sub-metropolis from October 2016 to October, 2017. 


Long Term Outcome Smart Objective

To reduce malnutrition in Tema East from 98% to 50% among children under five years by the end of the year 2017
