Lusaka City Council is situated in Lusaka District which is the capital city of Zambia. The major roles of the organization includes the following services ranging from:- health inspections, waste management and street cleansing, Environmental Impact Assessment Reports review, skills training, Pest control services, collection of rates, inspection of buildings before erection, among others. To achieve this, the organization implements its programmes through the following departments:- Administration, Finance, Legal Services, Valuation and Real Estates, City Planning, Engineering, Housing and Social Services and Public Health

Current Mission
To provide high quality services, an enabling environment, meaningful employment and advancement or opportunities with stakeholder participation, improve the quality of life for all, those who live, work, visit or conduct business in the city of Lusaka.
Proposed New Mission
To provide high quality services such as solid waste management, health and safety, street cleansing, inspections of buildings, city planning, road maintenance, business licences, an enabling environment to conduct business, meaningful employment and advancement or opportunities with stakeholder participation, improve quality of life to the people of Lusaka city.

Goals
To reduce food poisoning complaints, food borne diseases and outbreaks in the city of Lusaka.
Objectives
- To reduce food poisoning, food borne diseases and outbreaks in the city of Lusaka through establishing a food safety unit with adequate documentation and functional policies by december 2014.
- To establish a food safety monitoring policy by march 2014.
- To identify the team, secure funding and equipment for the food safety unit by March 2014.
