About the Organization

German doctors Nairobi is located in the sprawling Mathare slums North East of Nairobi. It was started in 1997 to fill the health gap of this   marginalized community. The Mathare slum has a population of approximately 443 000 people. Its main focus was to help the poorest of the poor with general health care.  It also gave home based services through home visits by the nurses and community health volunteers. with time German doctors Nairobi grew into  different    departments  of  health care including  General Health  clinic,  CCC ,  Nutrition Center  and community health  services. It also provides funds for small income generating activities and also gives funds for natural calamities occurring around Mathare area. We are funded by the German Doctors foundation in Bonn Germany and CHAK   for the CCC services.  German Doctors Nairobi comprises of about 96 permanent local staff 5 short term volunteer German doctors and one long term German Doctor. Every day  the health center opens its  doors to over 500 patients living within Mathare and its surroundings.

Providing accessible, quality and sustainable medical services to the marginalized and vulnerable as well as creating an environment for prevention and awareness for a healthy living making them custodians of their own health

to provide accessible quality sustainable HIV/AIDS services  to the the adolescent in the marginalised mathare community

Program Goal Statement

Establishment of an adolescent  HIV/AIDS care center In Nairobi 


Long Term Outcome Smart Objective

To increase  the uptake and retention  of  HIV/AIDS service  by the adolescents through establishment of    a fully functioning  adolescent  friendly center  by July 2017. 


Measure

To achieve an adherence   to treatment rate of 90% as well as 90% viral suppression rate for all the adolescents in the clinic by  July 2017.
