About the Organization

The AIDS Support Organisation (TASO) was founded in 1987 by a group of volunteers led by Dr. Noerine Kaleeba and it became the pioneer non-public actor response to the HIV and AIDS epidemic in Uganda and the region. It has since evolved into one of the largest and most organized initiatives providing a comprehensive package of HIV and AIDS prevention, care, support and treatment services in the country. It is a membership organization registered in Uganda as a not-for profit Non- Governmental Organisation (NGO).The AIDS Support Organisation (TASO) was founded in 1987 by a group of volunteers led by Dr. Noerine Kaleeba and it became the pioneer non-public actor response to the HIV and AIDS epidemic in Uganda and the region. It has since evolved into one of the largest and most organized initiatives providing a comprehensive package of HIV and AIDS prevention, care, support and treatment services in the country. It is a membership organization registered in Uganda as a not-for profit Non- Governmental Organisation (NGO).TASO has a network of 11  service Centers of Excellence (CoE) in Uganda in the districts of Gulu, Jinja,  Kampala, Masaka, Masindi, Mbale, Mbarara, Rukungiri, Soroti, Tororo and Wakiso; 1 Training  Centre of Excellence, and 3 discrete projects; Grants Management Unit, Karamoja Project and  Tororo Laboratory Hub. TASO is implementing 2 partnership projects; Strengthening Decentralization for Sustainability (SDS) Programme and HIWA   and also works with Local Governments of Jinja, Manafwa and Tororo districts to strengthen their capacity in health service delivery where 54 Public Health Facilities are provided technical support

To contribute to the process of preventing HIV infection, restoring hope and improving the quality of life of persons, families and communities affected by HIV infection and disease
